This Week In Snow, December 28th

This Week in Snow will be a weekly feature on Curbed Ski, coming out every Friday and including shots straight from the snow across the Lower 48 (and Whistler). If this Christmas vacation is your only week to ski this entire season, it has worked out pretty well. Vail's Back Bowls and Stowe's Front Four both opened this week with all natural snow thanks to an extremely generous December. After a big storm that hit Maine with thirty inches of powder and the rest of the Northeast with rain, this week all of New England is reveling in a fresh foot on the slopes. In Tahoe, you could even, just maybe, say there's been too much snow, as resorts from Northstar to Squaw have been digging themselves out of over six feet of snow, which has shut lifts and caused some pretty scary avalanches.
