Holiday Trimmings

In the spirit of making the holidays greener, the city of Brussels, Belgium, decided to forgo the greenery this season, opting for an architectural interpretation of a pine tree rather than the real thing. The 82-foot tower of light-up blocks, designed by French firm 1024 Architecture, is certainly new-age—and it's totally fine to turn the concept of a Christmas tree on its head—but, sorry, light displays, video projections, and sound installations do not a Christmas tree make.
