The Pink-Painted, 22-Room King of Connecticut Queen Annes

Location: Southport, Conn.
Price: $5,250,000
The Skinny: Fabulously detailed and extravagantly decorated, this 22-room Queen Anne, sited on 1.73 acres in Southport, Conn., is one of the finest restored examples of this popular style of the late 1800s. This particular example was built in 1882 and includes a carriage house, greenhouse, gazebo, swimming pool and formal gardens. The renovation, which brought glossy ceilings and Asian-influenced textiles to the interiors, also spruced up the exterior, which is today presented in pink with blue trim. While the uniquely styled interiors may be an issue for some buyers, it is hard to overlook the level of craftsmanship, not to mention the time and money, that went into reviving this mansion. Of course, the current owner is trying to recoup a bit of that money and is asking $5.25M for the six-bed, 6.5-bath, 7,000-square-foot spread.
