Rent a Richard Neutra in Pacific Palisades for $6K per Month

New, 1 comment

When the designer and real estate agent Scott Lander purchased Richard Neutra's 1938 Barsha Residence in Pacific Palisades, Calif. in 2008, it was in dire need of a renovation. The house had been moved to spare it from demolition during an expansion of the Hollywood Freeway, but apparently had not been particularly well maintained since. Lander, who paid around $1.5M for the property, completely restored the sleek structure to its former glory, but then had trouble selling the place, first for $2.5M, then $2M. It still hasn't sold, and Lander's taken it off the market while he applies for Historic-Cultural Monument status, but it is currently available as a $6,000 per month rental for those who can't commit to aging modernism.
