And Now, a Copper Dome That's Actually a Nursery School

New, 1 comment

Smack in between Trento in Milan in northern Italy lies the small comune of Costa Volpino, wherein the above nursery school is located. Designed by Milan-based firm Lorenzo Noé Studio di Architettura and completed in 2008, the dome-like La Malpensata is clad with copper sheeting. Inside, limestone walls and resin floors keep the modern aesthetic going throughout spaces such as an arts-and-crafts room and playroom. The architects' project description really says it best: "Outside the room looks like a space ship landed in the garden. [...] Inside you feel like in a grotto with an ice floor." Just perfect, of course, for toddlers.
