Oscar Greenroom Unveiled; Dwell Meets Design Within Reach

HOLLYWOOD, CALIF.—Three weeks after announcing that interior designer Waldo Fernandez will decorate this year's Oscar greenroom, Architectural Digest releases a photo of the space (above). The space is "inspired by Hollywood of the 1930s and 40s [and] references the Billy Haines-decorated Beverly Hills home of director George Cukor, who was legendary for his glamorous parties." THE INTERNET— has just rolled out an updated iOS app. It features faster ways to search reduced, foreclosed, and recently sold properties, as well as a spiffy new home screen. []

WORLDWIDEDwell has teamed with Design Within Reach on the first-ever Live/Work Design Contest, which tasks emergent designers with creating the next workspace "classic." "We're looking for a product or furniture idea that is destined to be a future live/work staple," says Dwell editor in chief Amanda Dameron in a press release. The magazine is accepting online-only submissions through March; in April, a jury of editors and DWR executives will select 10 finalists to be featured in the May issue, and the finalist will be named via a public vote on WantedDesign.
