Classic Yet Casual Coastal Maine Getaway Asks $6K a Week

Perched on a dead end lane above the rocky Maine coastline, this shingled three-bedroom house commands a hefty weekly rent, mostly thanks to the breathtaking ocean views that can be enjoyed from nearly every room in the house. Measuring just 2,100 square feet, the simple structure was built in 2000 and therefore has updated features to go along with the classic look. That means no leaky roof raining on a vacation parade, but all the charm of a rough stone fireplace, pickled pine walls, and beadboard ceilings. The owners, proprietors of a nearby inn, are prepared to provide "a stocked refrigerator, lobster and wine or a hot stone massage," among other services, to the renters of the Birdhouse as this seaside nest is known. Of course, all that comes at a cost, $6,000 per week.
