Dutch Colonial Country Splendor in New York's Hudson Valley

Have a nomination for a jaw-dropping listing that would make a mighty fine House of the Day? Get thee to the tipline and send us your suggestions. We'd love to see what you've got.

Location: New Paltz, N.Y.
Price: $895,000
The Skinny: Nestled in the heart of New York's Hudson Valley, New Paltz, N.Y. lies two hours north of NYC by car, but this 1860s Dutch Colonial house will make visitors feel like they've stepped much further back in time. Probably not well suited to modernists, the house was last "dramatically and artfully renovated and remodeled in 1915." That means that no crude hand has, in the interim, spoiled the simple elegance of the place. The 11-acre grounds too, look largely untouched, and provide idyllic views to the house's inhabitants, who also enjoy five bedrooms and seven baths, a pair of fireplaces, an eat-in kitchen, formal dining room, screened porch, and in-ground swimming pool. For all that, the price, at $895K, is nothing short of reasonable.
