Green Queen Daryl Hannah Lists Hippie Hideaway for $5M

New, 1 comment

A longtime presence in Hollywood, Daryl Hannah has recently been more devoted to causes than her craft. She has reportedly been arrested at least three times for her behavior at protests and moved into an off-the-grid compound in Colorado, some 45 minutes outside of already-remote Telluride. Perhaps with that off-the-beaten-path ethos in mind, she has decided to abandon this 17-acre compound in the hills of celeb-choked Malibu, Calif., but not before attempting to profit handsomely. Currently listed for $5M, the property was assembled by Hannah over the course of a decade, from 2001 to 2011, for the low, low price of $1.4M. The spread contains simple structures like a 1927 hunting lodge and a tiny guest tower, built of stone and corrugated metal in a most unpretentious style, as well as the gorgeous floral remnants of what was once a plant nursery. The lodge, which, at little more than 1,500 square feet, must be considered modest by Malibu standards, has just been updated with "in-floor heating, large walk-in closet/dressing room and indoor/outdoor shower with a Japanese soaking tub." Despite being located within the boundaries of a famous beach town, this plot enjoys only occasional peeks at the ocean. Between the lacking views and the housing shortage, this place would do very well to sell without first seeing the chopping block.
