A Lakefront Mansion by One of Buffalo's Legendary Architects

Have a nomination for a jaw-dropping listing that would make a mighty fine House of the Day? Get thee to the tipline and send us your suggestions. We'd love to see what you've got.

Location: Derby, N.Y.
Price: $1,950,000
The Skinny: The architect E.B. Green enjoyed a prolific, 72-year career, designing more than 370 structures, most of them in and around Buffalo, N.Y. This lakefront manor was completed to Green's design in 1900 and today sits on almost six acres of Lake Erie waterfront, with boat ramp and private beach. The 7,280-square-foot English country-style estate last traded hands back in 2005 for just $600K. How did the estate appreciate so drastically in the interim? In the past seven years, the owners have reportedly poured more than $1M upgrading and restoring the home, including an updated kitchen, master bathroom, and top-floor exercise/game room. Now the house has been thrust back on the market with the much inflated price tag of $1.95M.
