Karl Lagerfeld has been tapped as guest editor for the May issue of Architectural Digest France, which hits stands next week. Might be strange-sounding at first, but turns out the perennially serious-looking fashion mega-mogul and Chanel creative director, who moonlighted as a guest editor for the international Metro newspapers in February, showed Arch Digest France editor in chief Marie Kalt a thing or two about decorative arts and design. Having once written about such subjects under the pseudonym "Magnus Dancourt," Lagerfeld was right at home in the hallowed Arch Digest France hallways, deftly amending a feature on pools to a feature on lap pools, hand-selecting 20 chairs from a lot of 140, and dining with famed industrial designer Marc Newson over Louis Süe and André Mare plates and Lalique glassware. Anyway, WWD has a photo of Lagerfeld's bedroom in his Paris apartment, which is featured in the issue.
