They're baaaaaaaaaack. Just when we thought the country was finally back to embracing smaller, pre-existing homes, new housing data released yesterday shows that McMansions are back...and in a big way. But buyers themselves aren't necessarily to blame: "In some cases, home builders are enlarging homes even if clients don’t ask for it?in an attempt to appeal to buyers who might be on the fence." For us, 7,000-sq-ft is just way too much to Swiffer at any price. [Wall Street Journal]
