Location: Tuxedo Park, N.Y.
Price: $4,400,000
The Skinny: The stone foundation beneath this 50s lake house once supported a massive mansion owned by the Dodge family and visited by President Harry Truman. While that structure is long gone, the existing 7,000-square-foot home that now occupies the site is hardly disappointing. The five-bedroom manse has been renovated by the Manhattan firm Meyer Davis and now boasts magazine-worthy interiors and a revamped stone boathouse with lake-level patio. All told, the home and its 3.6-acre site are asking $4.4M, exactly double what the current owner paid back in 2003, but not out of the question for such a large and well-kept estate on one of New York's most famous lakes.
