The Palace of Versailles, admired by all and emulated by many, has been the darling of the fashion industry this season. There's the new "Collection Versailles de Chanel" makeup line, so named because Karl Lagerfeld presented his 2012 Chanel Cruise show at the French estate last month. And piggybacking on the success of its now-famous "J'Adore Dior" perfume ads (in which actress Charlize Theron was filmed at Versailles), Christian Dior feted its 60th anniversary there in May and used the mansion's interiors and gardens as a backdrop to videotape its Fall 2012 collection. Entitled "Secret Garden," the latest campaign features model Daria Strokous, doe-eyed as ever, charging through "a deserted Versailles, as if plucked from a fantasy [...] through the palace's endless interconnecting salons, as far as the grand tree-lined walks that sweep through the classic parkland à la française."
