Last year, Frank Gehry told CNN's Fahreed Zakaria that he still regretted his 2005 caricature performance on The Simpsons, that his work indeed involves more than crumpling up pieces of paper. Yet the Architect's Newspaper notes that the architect's set for the Los Angeles Philharmonic's production of Don Giovanni was "designed in model form by crumpling paper, they were built onstage by Gehry’s staff using 80 rolls of nine-foot wide paper hung on concealed wooden frames."
