Bruce Campbell, a building services and environmental engineer living in Oregon, thought that regular homes were just too fragile, susceptible to termites and microbes, and "secured with low tech fasteners using low tech techniques," so he set about purchasing and retrofitting a higher-grade home. Over the course of a decade, Campbell has spent an additional $100K outfitting the plane for terrestrial living.
