Bare Edison bulbs are over...it's now all about wood. And wouldn't you know it's someone from Japan who perfected the idea? Using a traditional wood turning technique called rokuro, Osaka-born designer Ryosuke Fukusada creates ultra-thin wooden shells on a lathe and wraps them around LEDs, creating an incredibly cool effect when flicked on. The artist hasn't commercialized the process just yet, but we expect to see these hanging in boutique hotels and hipster bars around the world very soon.
