For Billionaires Late to Olympic Party, London's Priciest Pads

New, 3 comments

Lets say you've been too busy running your Silicon Valley tech concern or cornering the market on Russian natural gas to remember that the London Olympics commence this weekend. Well, we've got your back, hypothetical rich guy! Here are five of London's most expensive residences, fit for oligarchs and titans of industry, that are currently on the market. Bring cash and they could be yours in time for the Games. At the top of the range is a Knightsbridge penthouse short on photos but oh-so-long on price. Located atop the Bulgari Hotel and just around the corner from Harrod's and One Hyde Park, the listing is very hush hush—the asking price is only available to qualified buyers and the listing agents refused to comment—but the hotel's other private penthouse sold for an astounding $157M. Oh, and the available one is more than 2,000 square feet larger.

? Surprisingly, seeking out a huge single-family mansion is actually less expensive. Case-in-point, this amenity-rich brick manse in Hampstead is listed for almost $63M. Situated on over an acre of manicured grounds, the estate includes nine bedrooms, two staff apartments, indoor pool complex, steam room, sauna, fitness rooms, home cinema, and even a private hair salon. For those who obtained their mountain of cash while pissing off a bunch of baddies, there's the all-important security system featuring "full lock down security shutters, alarm systems, and full interior and exterior CCTV coverage viewable remotely on iPad, iPhone, Blackberry or computer."

? Perfect for the indecisive billionaire, this white mansion in St. John's Wood boasts an adaptable floorplan with anywhere from 6-9 bedrooms and 4-7 bathrooms. While it's difficult to decipher exactly what that means, at least the $61.3M house will always have plenty of entertaining space and amenities, like a neon-lit swimming pool, a gym big enough for an Olympic weightlifting team, and a stunning, mirrored wet bar.

? For those concerned with a choice view at the aquatics center and at home, this massive flat overlooking Kensington Gardens should fit the bill perfectly. Highlighted by a 53-foot living room with floor-to-ceiling glass doors and juliet balconies, soaring ceilings, a glass mezzanine, and a modern aesthetic that somehow fits with the classic bones. Don't get too attached though, the price is $37.75M.

? In this company, a townhouse listed for $25.1M might look downright cheap—and the fact that there's no photo of the facade is worrying—but there's plenty packed into a (not really) small price tag. The house includes five bedrooms, five bathrooms, a three-car garage, gym, massage room, and a Michael Phelps-worthy subterranean swimming pool.
