Magnificent Gardens Highlight Historic Florentine Villa

Nestled in the hills of Pian dei Giullari in Florence, this elegantly restored villa dates from the 15th century, when it was owned by the powerful Bartolomeo family. One hundred years later, the windows were modified to suit contemporary tastes, but otherwise the villa retains much of its original character, even 500 years on. The four-bedroom, six-bathroom villa, currently listed for $6.57M, is a serious example of historic preservation, but it is the terraced gardens that make this mansion so desirable. Sprawling over a third of an acre, the lush plantings are divided by hand carved stone walls and ornaments not easily replicated today.
