Americans Big Fans of Blue; Best Design Folks on Twitter

EVERYWHERE—Do pick up the September issue of House Beautiful, which contains the magazine's first annual Color Report. Blue won out big time—29 percent of the 4,000 readers, designers, and design bloggers polled call it their favorite color—followed by green, pulling in 21 percent. “We’re seeing a trend toward soothing colors in the home,” says House Beautiful in chief Newell Turner in a statement. “[P]eople want to surround themselves with calming colors. Blue and green are cool hues that imbue our living spaces with serenity. Our homes are our havens, and we’re not surprised that the two most popular colors are restful and reassuring.”

CHESHIRE, CONN.—Wacky home-maintenance news: a Connecticut woman has finally been reimbursed by Connecticut Light & Power after being erroneously billed for electricity used to power a pair of nearby street lamps.
