Day 4, Round 2: Kyle Schuneman vs. Robert White

New, 12 comments

Welcome to Hottest Week 2012, wherein Curbed pits hot (sexy, gorgeous, beautiful, stunning, spectacular, alluring, model-esque, and so on) architects, interior designers, and decorators against each other to determine once and for all who's the hottest of the hot. Stay tuned this week and next as the tournament unfolds. And let the games begin!

Kyle Schuneman was selected as one of the Next Wave of Designers to Watch by House Beautiful in 2010, at which point he said he's "inspired daily mostly by things that aren't in the interior design world. The other day I saw these amazing skater shoes—a great inspiration point for a room. And I recently went to the old Ringling mansion in Florida. The vintage pieces from the circus had such colorful stories, you couldn't help but want to incorporate them into a new space. I love things with a story." Schuneman's firm, Live Well Designs, tackles interior design, art direction, and prop styling, and has completed projects ranging from private homes to Target ad campaigns.

Interior designer Robert White grew up in a Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired home and today calls his own aesthetic "ski lodge chic." "I find solace in the relationships between warm, deep woods and rough steel, or the juxtaposition of a live edge table to a mohair recamier," White says. "My designs are masculine by nature, but warm and inviting, blurring the line between rough hewn and luxury." White, one half of the Atlanta-based firm Reiner White Design Studio, splits his magazine-reading time between Elle Decor and another Hearst magazine: Car and Driver: "My second obsessions in life all have four wheels and rack and pinion steering."
