A Classic on the Jersey Shore Without a Hint of Jersey Shore

New, 3 comments

Welcome to House Porn Thurs, a joint effort between Curbed National and AOL Real Estate to provide distraction from the slog of an almost-finished work week with some lavish listings and over-the-top interiors. Have a suggestion for a worthy contender? Tweet #housepornthurs to @Curbed.

Thanks in large part to the televised antics of the Jersey Shore cast members, the region has received a boatload of negative press recently, but some parts of the shore are far less raucous, and far more monied, than the "gym, tan, laundry" types would make you think. This rambling, shingle-style mansion, known as Blue Arches, was built in 1929 and occupies a huge, 2.22-acre beachfront lot. The interiors, devoid of hybrid Cadillac/Jersey/Italian logos, are instead nearly 7,000 square feet of preppy standbys like sisal rugs and slipcovered furniture with beach motifs. Enjoying broad views of the water from many rooms and direct beach access over the dunes, the nine-bedroom mansion is currently listed for $13.9M.

What's AOL Real Estate up to this week? Do find out.
