Five Cape And Island Neighborhoods, Five Houses Asking $3.8M

New, 1 comment

Every Thursday, Curbed Comparisons breaks down what you can get at the same price point, style or size in five different Cape and Islands neighborhoods. Today: properties listed for $3,800,000.

Let's begin on the Vineyard, at 41 South Summer Street in Edgartown. The Victorian main house was built in 1895 for a sea captain's wife. Does that mean he lived there too? We always wonder. Anyway, the house was renovated in 2003 and features five bedrooms and four and half baths. In addition, there are two guest cottages, one with a full kitchen and sleeping loft. The compound generates $100K+ in summer rental income and is being offered turn-key.

In Cotuit, at 70 Vineyard Road, we find a four bedroom, four and a half bath overlooking Nantucket Sound. Built in 2002, the 4,000 sq. ft. home has "custom ceilings, beautiful beams, and bead board and stunning wood floors." It's a sort of ski-chalet-at-the-beach look. Outside, the 1.2 acre property includes a stone fireplace, in-ground pool, Jacuzzi and a private sandy beach.

Up the road in Osterville, at 220 E Bay Road, we find a four bedroom, five and a half bath waterfront property with access to Nantucket Sound. Inside, there's quite a bit of personal taste and a master suite with a hot tub, sauna and deck. Outside, there's a deep water dock and a widow's walk with "outrageous views!"

Out on Nantucket, at 25 Starbuck Road, we find a three bedroom, three bath located in Madaket. The Grey Lady may have some of the Hottest Brokers, but we can't say much for these listing photos. Oh, well. "Let the waves lull you to sleep!" There's conservation land on two sides of the oceanfront home, so the brokerbabble promises "amazing views forever!!"

Over in Orleans, at 19 Whippoorwill Lane, we find a three bedroom, three and half bath "private waterfront estate on Pleasant Bay." The 3,050 sq. ft. elevated main house was built in 1961 and has views from Nauset Beach to Chatham. There's a beach front guest house, a "soft sand beach" and access to the Atlantic Ocean.
