Starchitect Richard Meier Completes First Project in China

New, 1 comment

China's ferocious building spree has, with the exception of the 2008 Olympic buildings, left out many of the world's greatest architects. No longer for white-on-white superstar Richard Meier, whose Shenzhen Clubhouse has just reached completion just north of Hong Kong. Aimed at Shenzhen's growing economic elite, the club features a restaurant, private dining rooms, an art gallery, and an extravagant fitness center. The design, which fits neatly into Meier's style, is described by the architect as reflecting a "unique design while the architectural massing, the subtle folds, and the modulated proportions are evocative of the firm's guiding principles."
