While the London-based firm Assemblage has won a bid to design a $1B parliament building in Baghdad, the Iraqi government is apparently still "in talks" with the competition's third-place runnerup, Zaha Hadid. Meanwhile, an Assemblage rep calls Hadid's proposal a "fashionable icon building" and hints that it might be "a cost and functional nightmare, and a rapidly dating aesthetic." [Dezeen]
