This week's New York Times' Critical Shopper visits the new West Elm Market in Brooklyn. The space imagines a shopper with "hours to devote to backyard chickens and victory gardens, pie crusts and piles of laundry. Even the preprinted list pads on offer read 'Do Your Chores,' as if that customer lived in a sod house on the banks of Plum Creek rather than in a $1,000-per-square-foot loft apartment overlooking the East River."
