First Ski Resort in Nation Opens for Today Only

Move over Loveland and Arapahoe Basin, Crystal Mountain is the first ski resort in the country to open for the 2013-2014 season. But there's a catch: the Washington state resort is only open to 75 lucky Facebook followers who will get to ride for $15 today. This crazy scheme went down after the mountain received over two feet of snow on Monday. Crystal Mountain employees busted out their rock skis and tested the runs at the top of the gondola, eventually deciding they couldn't let ski patrol have all the fun. When the resort announced that they would open to a select few from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Tuesday, their websites crashed due to volume. The marketing department changed tactics and asked eager skiers to comment on their Facebook page to earn the coveted spots. Late Monday night, the first 75 people who commented won tickets, with hundreds missing out. Did you earn the golden ticket to ski Crystal Mountain on Tuesday? Comment here or send us photos to ski@curbed.com.
