Dropping Newton-John's Offer, Rosie Nabs New Florida Pad

Comedian Rosie O'Donnell will not be buying the waterfront Florida manse of musician/Grease star Olivia Newton-John after all. Per The Real Estalker, O'Donnell backed out of the sale (in contract in mid-August) and instead snatched up a four-bedroom plantation-style spread in Nokomis, Fla., directly on the other side of the state. Why the sudden switch? Apparently right before closing the deal with Newton-John's place, a contractor committed suicide on the property, which was enough to give O'Donnell cold feet. But perhaps it's all worked out for the best; her purchase on the Gulf of Mexico looks plucked out of a coastal living catalog, what with French doors leading out to the sand on one side and the pool terrace on the other. There's also, per the brokerbabble, custom plantation shutters, marblework throughout, imported French oak floors, an outdoor kitchen, and a boat slip in the nearby marina. What's O'Donnell, who recently sold her megamanse on Star Island for $16.5M, laying down for her new place? "Around" $5M, the Wall Street Journal reports. · 703 Casey Key Rd, Nokomis, Fla. [Zillow]
