Not every multimillion dollar Nantucket listing sells quickly or for ask. Take for example this historic mansion at 38 Orange Street. The circa 1835 captain's house debuted on the market in June 2011 for a hefty (in retrospect) $6,450,000. Two-plus years and just two meetings with the pricechopper later, the ask was down to a more reasonable (in retrospect) $5,650,000. Hence, a buyer for the "stately" abode appeared.
Just how stately is the spread? Per the listing:
Every room is replete with high ceilings, majestic windows, intricate crown moldings, handcrafted fireplace mantels and many other impressive touches. In addition to the fabulous interiors, the outdoor spaces are equally as remarkable, with 3 levels of large decks, a back yard with mature gardens and wonderful views of the Harbor and Sound, including Brant Point Lighthouse. After 759 days on the market, 38 Orange Street sold for $4,750,000, making the "elegantly refurbished" six bedroom, five-plus bath last week's priciest sale.
