The Skinny: A student of Frank Lloyd Wright, who called him his "most enthusiastic advocate," Massachusetts-born architect Myron Hunt moved to Pasadena in 1893 because of his wife's tuberculosis and went on to become one of Southern California's most prolific architects of the early 20th century, designing the Huntington Library, the Ambassador Hotel, the Rose Bowl, and more than 500 other structures. One of those, this 3,444-square-foot "Swiss chalet" in Ojai, is on the market for $4.15M. The four-bedroom, four-bathroom house, built in 1918, has been restored with original hardware, light fixtures, woodwork, and beamed ceilings, although it's not in its exact original condition—the roof now boasts solar panels. Further down the street, Hunt also designed the home of Edward Libbey, who designed and financed the rebuilding of Ojai after much of the town was destroyed in a fire in 1917. That estate was listed for a similar price a couple of years ago.
