Ed Niles' Audaciously Steely Henman House Asks $9.2M

New, 4 comments

When a listing's brokerbabble describes a home as "not for the faint of heart," chances are the house in question is more than a little bit bonkers. This glass- and steel-sided 5,904-square-foot Malibu estate, listed for $9.2M, certainly fits the bill. Designed by architect Ed Niles, known for building works of art people can live in, as opposed to, uh, plain ol' houses, the Henman House sits on 14 acres and has all the bare-bone necessities one could ask for: a pool overlooking the Santa Monica mountains, an underground studio, a normal-house sized guest house, a "self-contained water supply," and—of course—a helipad. The 1993 home has been rented out for multiple movies and TV shows (keep an eye out for the living room, albeit in front of a CGI'd background, in Britney Spears' Work Bitch music video, released today) but hasn't been on the market since 2003, when it went for $3.5M. Honestly, though the place looks downright intimidating from the outside, the interior shots show some lovely natural light, four huge bedrooms, super-high ceilings, and lots of cool, exposed beams.
