A chance to peek inside an architect's own home is one thing, but here's a rare chance to actually buy one. A Bridgehampton, N.Y., home designed by the Norman Jaffe shortly before his 1993 death has newly been listed for $4.25M. It's unclear whether Jaffe ever actually lived here—property records indicate that it was built in 1995, though the listing states 1989—but it's certain that his wife, Sarah, did, selling the place in 2001 to its current owners. The 4,000-square-foot shingle-style compound includes a four-bedroom main house, a one-bedroom guesthouse, a greenhouse, a courtyard garden, a pool, and some gorgeous, lush landscaping. Though the interiors hint at a renovation, the wood-plank ceilings and slate floors are classic Jaffe. Of course, this is but one of some 50 modern homes the architect designed across Long Island during his career, and but one of two of his family's own Bridgehampton residences available on the market: the other, built in the late 1970s, was listed as a rental last April.
