The town of Mammoth Lakes, California is set for a new look after the Mammoth Lakes Town Council approved a plan that will change the town's 30-year-old commercial zoning codes. In a meeting last week, Mammoth Mountain Ski Area CEO Rusty Gregory told the town council that they needed to act quickly, because "there are developers waiting on the tarmac right now, hoping to invest in this town." This move comes after a long rap sheet of struggles for both the town and its surrounding ski areas, Mammoth Mountain and June Mountain. Approving changes to the code is just the first step, now Mammoth needs to go through the state's mandated environmental review process.
