Recently the British street artist Banksy wrote an op-ed in which he sharply criticized SOM's One World Trade Center, calling the nearly completed building "104 floors of compromise," a "non-event," "vanilla," and—oof!—"something they would build in Canada." The letter was rejected by the Times, of course, but Curbed NY has the full text, which concludes, "One World Trade declares the glory days of New York are gone [...] New York—we lost our nerve."
