A-Basin's Beavers Expansion Still a Few Years Out

Skiers might be ready to ski new terrain after seeing A-Basin's master plan, but the opening of the new 434 acre Beavers area is still a few years out. The resort held a public meeting Thursday morning to discuss the plans and show people the proposed terrain. Forest Service employees were supposed to be on hand to answer questions but the government shutdown prevented them from participating in the event. Thursday didn't provide much in the way of new information, but A-Basin staff answered questions about the environmental impact study that has to take place before construction can begin. A-Basin CEO Alan Henceroth stated that the Environmental Impact Study can take 15 to 24 months and then it will take a few years to prepare the terrain and construct the new 4,200-foot-long Beavers chairlift.
