Snowmass Hotel Gets Long-Awaited Green Light

The long-stalled development in Snowmass Base Village took a giant leap forward Monday after the Aspen Skiing Co. and the Town Council came to agreement on the review process. For over four years there has been little momentum in finishing the Snowmass Base Village project. But Aspen Skiing Co. now has the green light to build the Limelight hotel, a ski-in/ski-out property with 102 hotel rooms, 18 privately owned suites, and three employee housing units. Plans also call for building the Snowmass Mountain Club, a spinoff of the posh private club that's headquartered atop Aspen Mountain. With the project up and running, the ugly construction eye sore at the base of Snowmass could be completed by December 2015.
