Aspen is one month away from hosting the World Snow Polo Championships (yes, that's horse polo on snow) at Wagner Park, but the event needs an 18-inch snow base for it to proceed. The snow depth requirement is to help protect the Wagner Park turf, so if Mother Nature fails to provide, the Aspen Valley Polo Club will use snow guns to make the snow. Despite some voices of dissent on whether the event should be held in Wagner Park, the city is moving forward because it's sure to attract big-spender tourists (and their fur coats!).
