Artsy Antique Overlooking Squibnocket Pond Wants $2.6M

New, 1 comment

"Perched high on a hill," this Chilmark property hit the market late last week for $2,600,000. Per the listing, the circa 1850 farmhouse overlooks "Squibnocket Pond with some of the most breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean one can find on the Vineyard" and features three bedrooms, one bath, a center chimney fireplace, a "small birthing room," and thanks to a previous owner, artsy bragging rights.

According to the brokerbabble "After Vaclav Vytacil [sic], a world renown artist and writer acquired this property in 1928 the detached artist studio was built where he spent count...less hours painting hundreds of Island seascapes and harbor scenes." In 2012, long after Vytlacil's productive summers, the 1,318 square footer on 1.12 acres was upgraded with a new septic, first floor bedroom, bath, and what appear to be some low-grade updates (for a spread with a $2.6 million price tag) in the kitchen.
· Listing: 21 Squibnocket Road, Chilmark [Trulia]
· Vaclav Vytlacil, (1892-1984) [Martha's Vineyard Art Association & Old Sculpin Gallery]
