Just In: Billionaire Conservationist Buys Taos Ski Valley

New Mexico's Taos Ski Valley just sold for an undisclosed amount to billionaire conservationist Louis Bacon. Bacon purchased the resort from Mickey Blake, chief executive officer of Taos Ski Valley and son of legendary ski pioneers Ernie and Rhoda Blake. The resort was one of the last ski areas in New Mexico to be owned by its founding family, but the Blake family have traditionally avoided debt and only operated the ski area based on resort revenues. Bacon's wealth (last estimated at over $1 billion), should help Taos redevelop its base area and install lift service on Kachina Peak.
