Here Now, a Rudolph Schindler Calif. Duplex For $1.765M

New, 1 comment

Designed by SoCal legend Rudolph Schindler—the architect responsible for the "first house built in the modern style"—this 2,200-square-foot duplex in West Hollywood hit the market a couple of months ago for $1.765M. First spotted by Curbed LA , the two-apartment property, built in 1924, is one of Schindler's many multi-family dwellings and is described in the brokerbabble as having "all of the signature elements that made Rudolph Schindler one of the most successful and famous 20th century architects." The listing photos indeed show some lovely high ceilings punctuated by skylights, hardwood floors, and an open, airy design, perhaps perfect save for a kitchen space that feels just a bit cramped. The brokerbabble also promises "incredibly thoughtful landscaping" that creates a "true sanctuary," which seems to translate to two private backyards and a serious amount of shrubbery.
