Do check out the Hairpin's genius list of spite houses—houses "built for the express purpose of pissing someone else off"—ranked in order of spite level. Take, for instance, the "quite spiteful" Hollensbury Spite House, in Alexandria, Va., which was built in the 1830s by someone hoping to "keep out wagons, loitering youths, and other miscreants." It's seven feet wide, and people actually live there now. [The Hairpin]
