There's some crazy weather science going on at Alta, Utah, where a University of Utah physicist is photographing falling snowflakes in order to help improve winter forecasts. Tim Garrett and his program, the Alta Project, developed a Multi-Angle Snowflake Camera that takes millions of photos of snowflakes, collects data on how fast the flakes fall, and looks freakin' awesome.
