Legal Watch

Wow, that was short-lived. The Vermont Senate has shelved a plan to fine backcountry skiers who need rescues only a week or so after proposing it. Many were concerned that responsible backcountry enthusiasts would get lumped in with what Ski The East called "goofballs who just 'point it' having no idea where they are going," and one Vermont senator concurred from a legal basis, saying ""If we start criminalizing what we all think is dumb, we'd have an endless avalanche of legislation."
