Fashion Designer Derek Lam Lists Manhattan Loft for $6M

New, 5 comments

Have a nomination for a jaw-dropping listing that would make a mighty fine House of the Day? Get thee to the tipline and send us your suggestions. We'd love to see what you've got.

Location: New York, N.Y.
Price: $6,000,000
The Skinny: Fashion designer Derek Lam and his partner, Jan-Hendrik Schlottmann, who serves as the CEO of Derek Lam International, have listed their loft in NYC's Soho neighborhood for a no-nonsense $6M. The 2,200-square-foot unit spans the fifth floor of the Mercer side of the through-block Mercer Greene renovated loft complex, with 12-foot ceilings in the living space. At the rear of the apartment, a split-level layout allows for three bedrooms, all with quiet courtyard exposures and plenty of windows. According to data from Streeteasy, Lam and Schlottman paid $4.65M for the apartment back in 2011 and made few, if any, major alterations, though Lam does have some interior design experience as well—he once did up the green room for the Emmys. The building does have some star power attached, as it was once home to singer Rihanna, who paid $18,000 a month to rent a similarly sized pad.
