When it comes to restaurants with notable design, there's perhaps no genre as flush with futuristic ritziness and avant garde sensibility as sushi bars. Take Mexico City's Tori Tori (above): Rojkind Arquitectos and Esrawe Studio designed a bar wrapped in undulating purple netting and outfitted in custom furniture, walls teeming with jungle verdure, and, of course an "exclusive temple oriented to the highly demanding sushi lovers." Flip through the gallery above for a bunch of other extreme sushi joints, including ones with interactive projections on the tables, conch shell bars, and a "conceptual tree canopy." Do have a look.
