As part of this year's Canstruction, a massive hunger-relief drive in NYC, two-dozen teams of architects and designers crafted enormous structures—buildings, statues, furniture, Jeff Koons balloon dogs, the Staten Island Ferris Wheel—from more than 100,000 unopened cans of food. This creation (above), entitled "Room for One More," was the work of the structural engineering firm Weidlinger Associates, who managed to (yet again) turn the humble act of sitting down and eating together into a public work of art. The installation, currently on view at the World Financial Center in lower Manhattan, will be dismantled next week, with all the cans going to the hunger-relief organization City Harvest; view all 24 works over on Curbed NY.
