Skiers in Pakistan's Swat Valley have gone to some pretty ingenious lengths to keep their ski scene alive since the Taliban burned down the hotel and chairlifts in 2008. A crew of mechanics built their own lift with six-person chairs repurposed from a Toyota HiAce and powered by a Corolla engine. [Wall Street Journal]
