In January, the beachfront penthouse owned by the late Dallas star Larry Hagman—he played the infamous oil baron J.R. Ewing—hit the market, unleashing a world of intense HDR listing photos depicting things like a cowboy hat at sunset and a golden-hued guest room. Well, the place just sold, and for every cent of its $5.2M ask, no less. TMZ reports that the buyers liked the pad in Santa Monica, Calif.—which boasts 3,029 square feet, panoramic views of the Pacific, and something called "a mountain of marble"—before they found out that the recently deceased actor once owned it, though the buyers are also "big time Dallas fans," so it sounds like the connection was the tipping point. But, really, who knows? Maybe it was the staging that drew them in: the framed portrait of dollar bills in the powder room, the regal-looking ocelot in the living room, and the circa-1993 light fixture in the dining room. Anyway, $5.2M is a significant chunk of change for a two-bedroom unit, especially considering the $2,420 a month HOA dues and, well, all of the money it will take to bring the interiors into the new millenium—the contractors are probably already taking measurements.
