In the cleverly named "photoperformances" of her Landscape series, Peru-born artist Cecilia Paredes assumes the role of a chameleon in an eccentric, high-design showhouse. Using makeup and body paint, she melds her subjects into the ornate wallpaper around them, crafting a visual representation, perhaps of what it means to truly be a wallflower. Much like the photographer who once used wallpaper to cover the NSFW parts of her own nude portraits, Paredes also seems to be playing with the theme of disappearance: how does one make things hide in plain sight? All artisrybabble aside, though, Paredes sure seems to know how to pick a wall treatment. A few other looks, below.
