Vermont's Northeast Kingdom was recently granted status as a foreign trade zone, which permits area business to operate free of certain tariffs and taxes. The status designation is just one more move made to reinvigorate the rural area's economy, part of a larger effort initiated by the owners of Jay Peak Resort to bring foreign capital and business to its home turf.
